I thought I was drowning that night
And waited for you
But I was drowning long ago
Even as I reached for you.
A child’s heart conflicted, simplicity
Torn by guilt.
An adult – hearts rebellion
Torn by my own world.
You saved my heart, a broken bell
That clamoured to be chiming
You gave me a face that cried to laugh
A wish to share in smiling
In night pitch black you saw all
Felt the waves of pain
But I was rescued long before
I looked to you, That Dark Night
In the morning, hazy comprehension
I saw your finger-prints
And I read the note you left
Another ugly chapter, in your exquisite tale.
